Wine Academy

Teresa’s Wine Academy has been established to provide both professional and recreational wine appreciation courses serving Oakville, Burlington, Milton and surrounding areas.

Professional level seminars and courses are designed to improve wine sales for wine merchants and front of the house staff.  We offer customized courses for Business executives and Sales managers who would benefit from gaining a better appreciation of wines, wine ordering and protocols particularly when entertaining clients.

Recreational courses and seminars are designed for both the novice wine drinker new to the world of wine and people who already have a passion for wine who want to learn more about all aspects, but in a fun relaxed atmosphere. The emphasis will be on understanding different wine styles, pairing food and wine, choosing wine in a restaurant or store, a little something about each of the major wine regions around the world and how to taste like a pro.

The Travel series is a set of recreational seminars geared to people who are going to be travelling to a wine region and want to learn about the wines and foods of the area from someone who has been there. It’s also for people that have been to the area, tasted the wines and have come back wanting to learn more. Armchair travelers will also enjoy these seminars, although it may make them want to hop on a plane and get there.

Chef & Somm Classes and Events are now available with the help of Chef Maggie of Indulgent Chef.  We have a one-of-a-kind Wine for Chefs course specifically for Chefs and Passionate Home cooks.  We also have the first of its kind in the GTA - A Food and Wine Bootcamp.  Four weeks of cooking classes and wine tasting and learning.  There are a number of cooking classes for discerning home cooks and corporate events.  As well, Chef Maggie and Sommelier Teresa will come to your home and prepare a custom meal for you and your guests complete with wine pairings, education and fun.

Teresa’s Wine Academy promotes the responsible use of alcohol. We recommend the use of spittoons supplied at the tastings and we suggest that you eat before the start of each class. Lastly, please no perfume, aftershave or scented lotions when attending the classes. It’s important in order to smell the wine.
